The Lymm and District Round Table are set to donate thousands more to charity after totting up the proceeds from their annual bonfire and fireworks night.
A record £5,000 profit was raised from the event held at Lymm Rugby Club on Crouchley Lane, an impressive £1,000 more than last year.
Bonfire organiser and Round Table member Richard Storey said: “We’d like to thank all the people who came along and supported the event, it was a great night and the fireworks were as spectacular as ever.
“Our gratitude also goes out to the event’s main sponsors – Kids Planet Day Nursery – and all the stall holders who provided some much-needed hot food and drink to the public. With so much money raised this year, we’ll do well to top it next time around – but we’ll certainly give it a good go!”
Charities set to benefit from the bonfire funds include North West Air Ambulance, Lymm British Legion, and the Prostate Cancer Charity – a cause which the Round Table members are also supporting by growing moustaches as part of the popular ‘Movember’ campaign.
The Round Table’s next big community event is the Lymm Dickensian Day on December 11th, followed by Burns’ Night on January 21st and the Lymm Duck Race on Easter Monday.
