May the best house win! Teams go head to head to give homes new lick of paint TWO empty homes in Lymm were given a makeover this week by two firms.
Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) teamed up with infrastructure and public services company Amey to decorate two bungalows for elderly residents.
Neighbours were on hand throughout the day to keep an eye on progress and choose the winning team.
The event was organised as part of Amey’s ‘community day’ scheme, which gives all employees one day off every year to support a charity of their choice.
Their challenge was to make them feel like home, before new residents move in, doing jobs that many would be unable to do for themselves, such as painting ceilings and improving gardens.
It is expected that new residents will move in to the bungalows in the coming weeks.
The partnership between GGHT and Amey is part of Amey’s programme to support the community.
GGHT chairman Roy Smith, said: “It’s fantastic to see two of our properties being renovated.
“Everybody at GGHT really appreciates the hard work they put in and I hope they had a lot of fun.”
Dan Holland, managing director of Amey’s utilities and defence division, said: “It was a tremendous day and we’ve all got so much out of it.
“I hope the residents enjoyed putting us through our paces, but more importantly I hope we’ve made a real difference for the people who will soon be moving into the bungalows.”
