Sporting and Family event for Mencap Charity

The Voice of Learning Disability Sunday 2nd May 2010

Due to the success of the Cheshire event last year, the Lymm Triathlon is back providing a great early season challenge for novices and stars alike. This year, we gladly welcome our nominated charity of MENCAP, which will be involved in the fund raising of the race and be raising awareness of their worthwhile cause.

The Race....

The event which will be hosted at Lymm Leisure Centre consists of two Triathlons, a Sprint version and a Standard version. The Sprint comprises of a 500m swim, a 19km cycle and finishes with a 6km run. Whilst the Standard triathlon involves a 1km swim, a 35km cycle and finishes off with a 9km run.

Beginning with a competitive splash in the pool, athletes will then battle it out on a fast, undulating bike course, before completing the final home straight on a deceptively tough, mixed terrain run back to the leisure centre. The event is open to both individual competitors and 3-person relay teams in the Standard Race.

An exhilarating day for everyone to enjoy

With an exciting race commentary blaring out, sports massage on track side and various refreshments and snacks available, it’s a lively day to be enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike. Add in enthusiastic event crew and some fab prize give a ways for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd females/males in both Standard and Sprint races, and prizes for female and male ‘Local Heroes’. What’s more, with the mini athletics activities, children’s competitions, a climbing wall and ‘Sports Day’ type races you’ll soon see what all the fuss is about!

A superb event not to be missed, so get down there and show the competitors some support and encouragement!

Sunday 2nd May, 7:30am till 1pm, Lymm Leisure Centre.
