Following his huge success in 2010 with MAM, I’M ‘ERE! Simon Plumb, the Lymm-based playwright and impresario, announced this week his forthcoming summer production, a circus-style spoof entitled ‘The Greatest Show on Earth-ish!’
Set to run for three nights from 21-23 June, and as part of the Lymm Festival, this new musical comedy will be performed in a huge marquee located on Lymm Rugby Club’s first team pitch. Based on the fall and rise of Music Hall Variety, ‘The Greatest Show on Earth-ish’, follows the trials and tribulations of Mick Karno, the northern impresario, as he struggles to put his next ‘Summer Spectacular’ together.
“I am not sure Lymm will have seen anything quite like this. The marquee will be in place for a couple of weeks and Lymm Rugby Club kindly offered me the opportunity of producing a summer show. I am keen to bring a new and exciting theatrical experience to Cheshire.”
“For those who know my productions I promise everyone a brilliant night out full of laughter, great singers and cheeky fun. Once I heard there was a marquee the idea of a circus-style spoof seemed a natural choice.
“As ever, audience participation levels will be high and everyone will enjoy the mixture of comedy, singing, Mexican lion tamers, scouse clowns, low-wire, juggling and dodgy magic and ventriloquist acts.”
There will be a fully seated auditorium including a bar and the full theatrical experience. This show is suitable for children aged 14 years and over, with tickets at £16 each.
