On Sunday 27th February at Sale FC, our very own Mark Jennings had an overwhelming performance in the England U18 V Italy U19 Rugby International event. The England future legend became a try scorer after just 30 minutes into the game, which had a fantastic final score of 64-0 to England.
As Sale Sharks latest starlet, Jennings holds a significant record at the club being their youngest ever signed player in their 150 year history. After signing the contract on his 16th birthday in 2009, he began training full-time in conjunction with his studies at Lymm High School and currently Myerscough College. Having just celebrated his 18th birthday (which was in fact on the same day as the England V Italy game) he has recently signed an extension to his contract with Sale Sharks.
Predicted to play a vital role in the England V Italy game, Jennings was also a try-scorer in England U18's most recent match against Ireland. The 29-12 victory in Dublin back in December was "a massive confidence booster" and one which Jennings believes may well provide a catalyst for their whole international campaign.
After his outstanding performance in Sunday's game against Italy, Mark said "It was good to score a try again on home turf. Life with England is 'quality', and this squad looks amazing. That's two good wins under our belt, with Scotland to come in March."
A fantastic victory through and through, our local Lymm lad made us all very proud and we wish him and the rest of the squad all the luck in the world for their future games.
