Thirteen members of Lymm Round Table raise £3,000 by growing moustaches throughout November

The top lips of members of the Lymm and District Round Table have suddenly become a bit chillier after having their charity-inspired moustaches shaved off.

Thirteen members of the Table – which organises a number of charity and community events throughout the year – have raised over £3,000 by growing moustaches throughout November as part of the popular ‘Movember’ campaign, more than any other Round Table in the UK.

Movember is a worldwide initiative that was set up with the sole aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.

Chairman Dave Openshaw, who had his moustache finally shaved off along with fellow members at Sweeney Todd barbers in Lymm, said: “Although it’s been pretty embarrassing it’s also been a great laugh seeing what styles of moustaches the lads have gone for.

“We’re really grateful to everyone who has donated, but to be honest we’re all glad to see the back of them – and the same goes for our wives and girlfriends!”
