The Rotary Club of Lymm Cyril Bell award of 2010, for services to the community, was won by Neville Davies. Neville was nominated by The Royal British Legion for his work and efforts to raise awareness and support for the ailing Lymm Community and Youth Club and for his many years of support for the Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Neville receives the Cyril Bell trophy, a cut glass rose bowl and a cheque for £500, to his nominated charity.
On the same evening, a social event held on Wednesday 14th June 2010 attended by Rotary Members, their wives and friends, Neville was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award, the highest accolade placed on an individual Rotarian. This award was nominated by and endorsed by the members of the Rotary Club of Lymm.
Another highlight of the evening was when President Tony Cookson, together with Neville Davis, presented a cheque to Howard Newhall, of the Christie, Manchester, for £6000, raised at the recent Charity Concert held in the Bridgewater Hall.
On Wednesday 30th June outgoing President Tony Cookson handed over the Chain of Office to new President Martin Dunkley, who begins his year with a Summer Luncheon and hopes for “a successful and entertaining year”.
