Jo, 35, is a university lecturer. She has a Ph.D. in Russian Economic Transition and Pollution Control, and a first class honours degree in Business Studies. Previously she worked for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and has lived for periods of time in the Russian Federation. She is married to Chris, a materials engineer. Before she joined the Lib Dems Jo was an active campaigner on environmental and poverty reduction issues. She was a key member of her local Jubilee Debt Campaign team. She joined the party following the US/UK invasion of Iraq on March 20th 2003. Since joining the Lib Dems she has been an active campaigner, helping out in local and parliamentary by-elections across the country. She helped Warrington Liberal Democrats take control of Warrington Borough Council for the first time in May 2006. Since being selected as Warrington South's Parliamentary Spokesperson, Jo has been campaigning on Crime, NHS cuts and the environment - issues which are of key concern to local residents.
Jo is also a local Borough Councillor representing the Bewsey & Whitecross ward, and is also on the board of Golden Gates Housing.
In her very limited spare time, Jo enjoys fell walking and growing her own fruit and veg. She is also an avid cinema goer, and enjoys US TV drama - particularly The West Wing. She also attends her local pub quiz when she can.
