Sheila was elected to Lymm Parish Council in 1979 and has been Chairman twice

Sheila has a long association with Lymm. She is a former pupil of Lymm High School (then Lymm Grammar School) and has lived in Lymm since 1959. She is married to Neville, also a local Councillor, and they have four children and six grandchildren. In her working life she was a primary school teacher. Sheila was elected to Lymm Parish Council in 1979 and has been Chairman twice. She was elected to Warrington Borough Council in 1983 and Cheshire County Council in 1989 where she served until 1998 when Warrington became a Unitary Authority. Her main Council interests are education, planning, housing and the environment. At the moment she is Executive Board Member for Children and Young People's Services at Warrington Borough Council which covers education, children's social care and youth services. She was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by Lymm Rotary Club, their highest honour, for services to the community. She was Mayor of Warrington in 2000/2001 and was awarded an MBE in June 2000 for services to the community. Sheila very much enjoys working for the community and always says she is a people's councillor rather than a politician.
