He has interviewed every Prime Minister from Harold Wilson to Gordon Brown during his broadcasting career

Jim Hancock has lived in Lymm since 1993 with his wife Frances Done, who headed up the Commonwealth Games company in Manchester in 2002.

Their sons Andrew and Chris both went to Ravenbank Primary and Lymm High School.

Jim has interviewed every Prime Minister from Harold Wilson to Gordon Brown during his broadcasting career.

From 1974 until 1987 he worked mainly in local radio in the region but had a two year spell as a Lobby Correspondent for Independent Radio News at Westminster.

From 1987 until 1994 Jim was Political Correspondent for Granada Television. This was followed by a period as a National Political Correspondent with the BBC.

From 1998 until 2006, Jim was the BBC's Political Editor in the North West reporting for the nightly news programme North West Tonight from the region and Westminster. He also presented the regional part of the successful BBC1 Sunday programme, “The Politics Show”.

Jim is in high demand around the region chairing conferences and facilitating presentations for a variety of organisations. These range from the Olympic 2012 Business Opportunity Conference and Northern Rail Summit to the News of the World Save Our Streets Campaign and the How Do Media Awards.

He continues to broadcast on North West radio and TV stations and presents episodes of Beyond Westminster for BBC Radio Four.

He writes regularly on politics in the region for five papers and magazines including the Liverpool Daily Post, and the Municipal Journal.
