Cheap Cuts

Indie band from Warrington

This three piece band comprising of Gaz Roberts (Vocals, Guitar), Joe Bennett (Drums and the occasional Cajon!) and Joe Fush (Vocals and Bass) joined together in 2008 to form Cheap Cuts. Originally consisting of just Gaz and Fush, Joe joined the pair later on. The Indie influenced band has since done 50+ gigs in various places around Britain. Highlights of the band include performing at Night and Day in Manchester and as the supporting act of Florence and The Machine. Described as a “mixture of pop, ska and soul music” with “an infectious beat” they have gained a reputation as one of the hottest live bands on the circuit.

Rockfield Studios EP recording

Just months after the band formed they were invited to record their first EP at the impressive venue of Rockfield Studios in Monmouth. The first residential recording studio in the world, Rockfields Studios have played host to many of the world’s biggest artists including Oasis, Rush, Simple Minds and even Queen in 1975 where he recorded the greatest pop record of all time ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Courtesy of funding from Universal Records, Cheap Cuts recorded 7 tracks which have since sold over 1000 copies.

Busking Tour of Britain

During the summer of 2009, the lads spent a month touring all over Britain busking. Travelling from North Wales, down to Cardiff, Bristol and Bath, then further south to Newquay, Cornwall and Brighton, they then worked their way back up through Oxford, London and eventually Bradford and the surrounding areas. The whole trip was funded by the money the band made from busking and the successfully sold 450 copies of their CD with the potential to sell more if they could have carried them!

Live & Unsigned 2010

Having sailed through the auditions in Manchester, Cheap Cuts have made it through to the next round of the Live & Unsigned 2010 competition all in a bid to get signed. Attracting 30,000 entries nationwide, Live & Unsigned is the biggest music competition in the UK for unsigned bands and artists. Cheap Cuts were selected as one of the 60 bands out of a total of 600 to go through to the Regional Finals Live Show on Sunday 7th March at The Willows in Salford. The boys will be battling it out for the opportunity to progress towards the Live & Unsigned festival at the O2 in London.

The final at the O2 in London will provide acts with the chance to perform at the ultimate live music venue in the country. With the prize of a recording and management contract with Future Music and an investment of up to £30,000 to release their single, it’s a massive opportunity for the boys to progress in the industry. Previous judges at the event have included former Sex Pistols Manager Malcolm McLaren, pop and R&B star Dane Bowers, and Radio 1 stars Annie Nightingale.
