Ravenbank School has played a valuable part of Lymm village for over a hundred years. Originally known as Lymm Parochial School it was established in 1944 when it was split into three departments- Infants, boys (7-14) and girls (7-14). In 1947 the older boys and girls joined together to form Lymm Church of England Controlled School and were situated in a building which stood on what is now the car park near The Cross. The infants were taught a building which is now the Village Hall.
Building developments
The building was extended allowing for a school canteen and additional classrooms in the years 1948, 1957 and 1964. The Annexe of the building was designated to the older pupils aged 12-15 years until Lymm High School was established in 1957. In 1968 Lymm Parochial School was replaced with the new Ravenbank Primary School however the Annexe of the old building was still used as an additional teaching department. It was not until 1979 that the pupils of Ravenbank Primary School were all educated on the same site when the mobile classrooms were built next to the school and the Annexe was closed.
Outdoor environments
In 2005/2006 three of the classrooms at Ravenbank Primary School were extended by adding conservatories. The building now comprises of an assembly/dining hall, kitchen, 11 classrooms, ICT suite, library, a smaller teaching room, administration offices and disabled toilet/shower facilities. The School also benefits from three large playgrounds, a large playing field and several quiet areas. The Outdoor Learning environment was recently enhanced by the additions of a trim trail, playing park, outdoor classroom and climbing area.
